Great value, but they have their drawbacks

Pros: For the price, these pens exceeded my expectations. I usually use Prismacolor and after using them I can say that they are comparable in terms of pigment and mix. The overall color selection is great, the metallic colors are a nice bonus and there are enough colors for most projects. There are some lovely skin tones and hair colors, plenty of greens and browns for nature images, and a good range of purples and purples (which are usually absent from sets). The rose in the picture is a quick color that I drew just to show how well these pencils blend and how much pigment they produce. Cons: When I filled out the sample sheet, the lead fell apart into 4 pencils. I thought maybe the tip got damaged in transit and tried to sharpen it but all 4 crumbled either during sharpening or as soon as I touched the paper. To be honest, out of 160 colors I'm sure I won't miss these 4, but it's something to be aware of. The rest of the colors are holding up well so far, no problems with chipping or sharpening. The only downside to this set is the packaging. The plastic case they come in is strong enough, but the pens come in very cheap, very fragile shells that break and bend easily. Conclusion: This set is definitely worth its price. Even if there are a few manufacturer defects, you have to keep in mind that you can hardly expect perfection from a product in this price range. Compared to all the other cheap pencils I've tried, these pencils knock out the park and look a lot like high-end pencils.

Pros
  • Inspires confidence
Cons
  • Out of style

Better quality than most off brands but sharpening them is a nightmare.
