Review on 57 6014 FIPK Performance Intake System by Nick Cleary

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Well designed and legitimate performance gain

This is a well designed kit, I particularly like the design of the heat shield with its shock absorbing seal. I was a bit worried when I saw another review that talked about rattles as non-OEMs can spread bad reviews. I was also concerned about the installation as Revain Garage stated it would not work on my 2009 CrewCab, Short Bed, 4x4, 4.0L Frontier. I took a chance since the 4.0 Xterra/Frontiers are mechanically nearly identical in their respective release years. I took my time with the installation, used all the caulking material, cut it to perfection and checked my work. almost, see below), and according to my back cover, the claimed power gain is at least close, which is unusual for a CAI, usually a cool sticker is about as effective. It seems to have put some real thought and engineering into this, it also tells me that the stock configuration was quite restrictive. As another reviewer pointed out, the plastic tube reduces the chance of overheating and the heat shield is effective. I giggled and giggled tossing $$ at CAI, but turns out you get what you pay for, this time in a good way. by the way) in normal road conditions and uncomfortable in WOT. In WOT, I love it but my girlfriend hates it, Nuff said. What's elsewhere? Maybe Revain claims the kit doesn't work? Otherwise it fits perfectly but you need a 5/8 hose. Overall very satisfied
