Review on Achtung Cthulhu Secrets Dust by Eric Nelson

RIFTS style disappointment

My favorite Pulp WW2 Miniatures game is Secrets of the Third Reich. A bit difficult for people which is why we play Konflict 47 as it is the least difficult board game of the simpler rules. However, the fuzz in BOTH games leaves a lot to be desired. All hipster werewolves, vampires and zombies aside. Fluff Attention! Cthulhu is more focused on what Pulp WW2 should be. You know, the Cthulhu Mythos caused by Thule society. So I really like the idea behind it and I was excited to get this product. Until I opened the lid. I had no intention of using this for RPGs. I got Attention RPG for its amazing fluff. it was made for FATE and not for his own system as it was available. Now I get a DUST crossover. but adapted to Savage Worlds. It's really nice that I didn't invest a lot in this RPG system. Unlike the good work of GURPS, this book follows the RIFTS tradition. Limited Art. Partial lists of units and heroes from miniatures/board game DUST. Lots of "If you go by our respect rulebook." which makes one wonder if this is their actual RPG rulebook, or at least the available version of FATE. And "if you're referring to DUST squad cards, you can make investigator cards." So as a GM, I have a lot of work for $35, and so does RIFT. I also can't stress enough that I really like DUST miniatures and I have quite a few of them. If you buy this plan, you will only see "Light Walker, Medium Walker, Heavy Walker" for US and Fritz. So it was very incomplete in terms of the DUST vehicle and the hero fluff and the visuals. DUST has a whole wave of add-ons that they could pull drawn thumbnails from. While this means it is of minimal value to the miniatures player. So he has some decent scripts. He deftly rubs the DUST and fluff attention. But RPG or miniature gamers aside. It's more of a transition pamphlet than a book to look forward to.
