This is an updated product that appears to have been used before. Unfortunately, this also meant Amazon didn't factory reset the device and the admin password wasn't set by default. This in turn blocked me from the router and did not allow me to control the functionality of the router/modem. After checking with Amazon tech support, they recommended returning the unit and ordering another one, which I did. If the next one has the same problem, I discard the "updated" option and choose the new one. *Update* - I got the 2nd of these and the product was completely different. While the first was just a router/modem and power cord thrown in the box, the second looked like I expected to get it almost brand new. Each component has been individually boxed with an OEM instruction manual etc. A totally different experience and the product works flawlessly. Seems like a coin toss in my experience as to what you'll get with the upgrade, but Amazon's return policy helps a little with easy returns if you get a lemon.
