Replaced a rented Xfinity modem/router. Wow!

I did some research and bought this modem/router to replace my $11/month Xfinity/Comcast router. Why didn't I do this earlier? This new router will pay for itself in 15 months, which is not bad, but the increase in performance was so significant I couldn't believe it! My rented Xfinity router is less than a year old. It was having trouble connecting to the 3rd floor of my house with a reliable signal. My Nest camera was shutting down multiple times a day (very annoying and I blamed Nest forโ€ฆ

Overall a great product but there is at least one firmware issue that needs fixing

Setup was very easy, range is great, 2.4GHz and 5GHz frequencies are very nice , I have a Nest thermostat plugged in. , Yi Dome Camera, LG TV, ChromeCast, PS4, Samsung DVD/Home Theater, Yamaha DVD Player, iPhone and HP Laptop, the performance is excellent. The only problem I found was that when changing the default admin password I was able to successfully set a short password, but when I tried to set a long password the modem seemed to accept the change but I was able to do not register. Does what it promises

No ads, wireless gateway, it delivers on its promise. I received this recently because my ISP (Xfinity) informed me that my internet speed can be up to 400Mbps and my current modem can't handle more than 260Mbps. . This is also my first modem that supports AC protocol, by the way you have to be on 5GHz to use it, it increased the speed of my iPhones and iPads which already had AC protocol built in. That's exactly what I did. I need to get a wireless adapter for my computer that supports AC toโ€ฆ

Keeps breaking

When I first received the Motorola MG7700 I was pleased with it. My cable company activated it with no problems after I set it up. We connected wireless devices that were having trouble with our rented cable modem. Connected 3 computers connected to the network. Everything was great. Then, after about 1 month of use, our connection broke down. We contacted the provider, they said that everything is fine on their part. The lights on the modem indicated we were connected. But all our devicesโ€ฆ

Better than renting! Pay overtime yourself!

I just moved into a new house and Xfinity is the only game in town. I used to rent a modem/router monthly from FIOS. I told myself the next company wouldn't give me that again. Although it's expensive now, I know it will pay off in the future. I read a lot and researched different models and decided on this one. The installation was flawless. I was already connected to the internet before the technician could finish installing the TV cable. The signal is strong throughout the house. So far noโ€ฆ

Avoid Motorola products. Non-standard quality. The guarantee process is unreasonable. Never again Motorola.

The device worked fine at first, but only for 5 months, and then suddenly and completely stopped working. Comcast had to come three times to fix our internet problems until it turned out to be our dying Motorola MG7700 modem. When I called Motorola to inquire about a warranty replacement, they told me I had to reconnect the failed unit and try to reactivate it before they could issue a warranty replacement. For real? After solving the problem for a full two weeks, Comcast technicians beingโ€ฆ

Great modem/router!

The Motorola MG7700 is an excellent modem/router. It replaced an old Netgear N450 modem/router that kept dropping WiFi and had to keep restarting. Setting up the MG7700 was very easy and didn't even require a call to Comcast to set it up. I just went to the activation page and entered my Comcast account information. The MG7700 was connected to the Comcast network within 15 minutes (150 Mbit/s tariff). The MG7700 has improved WiFi connectivity with all my N and AC wireless devices. I live in aโ€ฆ

Good looking, easy setup. But the range is no better than my cheaper router, and the firmware isn't user-upgradable.

With my first router - much cheaper than this one - I had trouble getting a strong Wi-Fi signal (or any signal) in some corners of my house (house is not big but three stories high) . So I replaced it with a Netgear Orbi mesh router with a satellite device and that solved my WiFi coverage issues. After about a year I had to replace my modem, so I figured why not buy a device that can replace both my modem and Orbi? I decided to purchase this MG7700 because its beamforming and power boostingโ€ฆ
