I have reusable K&N engine filters installed in my other cars so after a recent visit to the dealer I was told I needed to change the engine air filter I figured it's time to just swap out the reusable filter and do it. The fit was perfect, installation was easy, the old filter was removed, the K&N put in and I was good to go. It took maybe 5-10 minutes. My Ecoboost F150 feels more responsive, I'm not sure if it's real or imagined, but acceleration seems better to me. I notice a 1 mpg increase in gas mileage. While not overwhelming, every little thing helps. The beauty of these filters is that they can be reused. A trick I learned years ago: keep your old filter, even if it's a bit dirty. When it comes time to clean the K&N filter, I usually leave it on paper towels for a day or so after cleaning/oiling. At this point I am installing the old filter so I can still use my truck. Once the K&N is ready to go, simply remove the old filter and put the K&N back in and you're done.
