Review on Aqueon πŸ” Filter Cartridge Replacements by Samantha Ballard

Disappointing with fish and aquatic animals

I am very disappointed with the Aqueon Silent Flow system in general. I bought a 54 gallon Aqueon corner tank and the largest Aqueon rear filtration system that would fit (quietflow LED 50) only to find it was ridiculously small. I changed the cartridges on these filters every few days and my water looked terrible. I switched to a canister filter and my water is crystal clear, requires minimal maintenance and high flow. I keep them now as a backup in case I ever have problems with the canister. It seems the size is appropriate for a single fish with a low bioburden and not a properly stocked aquarium. The same filter fits in the 20 gallon and 50 gallon filters, both use one filter each. For a 50 gallon filter, this means you are using the wrong filter cartridge. The filters clog very easily and contain virtually no activated carbon. I looked, I liked the beautiful solution first, live and learn. They probably work great in small tanks, but be careful with larger ones.
