Update: 11/18/2017 The company has replaced the scales, the readings of which have become more accurate and consistent. This is within a gram plus or minus when repeatedly placing a 5 kilogram weight. Two things to keep in mind with this and other 2-in-1 scales is making sure your containers/items don't overlap with the smaller platform. And remember that since measuring on a small platform is a solid unit, you will see a 0.01 gram increase in the value of the smaller object if a heavy object is placed on a large one at the same time. I left what I wrote earlier for reference. As others have written the smaller scale is great and comes with a calibration weight and to clear up the confusion you need two 5kg weights to calibrate the larger scale. During the calibration process, first 5 kg and then 10 kg are requested. I only bought a 5kg weight but was hoping the factory calibration would be ok. But the Revain courier threw away the package so I don't know if the factory calibration is broken or the scale itself. I checked the weight when I first turned it on and the little scale with the included 200 gram weight showed 203 grams. I calibrated it and it says 200 all the time so thumbs up. When I put a 5kg weight on the big scale it showed 5010g so I decided to calibrate it. after asking for 5000g, to my surprise he asked for 10000g. I turned around and weighed 5kg several times to get an average of 5008g. I then used a 10lb camera weight and about a pound of rice to balance the remaining 5kg. I should have used a smaller scale to fine tune the weight, but 20/20 in hindsight. I was able to complete the calibration process. The weight of 200g shows 200g, the weight of 5kg fluctuates between 4999-5002, when I put all the items on 10000kg it showed 6 grams more. I will buy a second weight to get it right. Maybe the factory size of the package would have been fine if the courier hadn't dropped it, but I don't know, just hoping it will hold up.
