It's hard to believe that after only 400 miles on the quad the starter failed. But after a year of unreliable starting (cold or hot) and another new battery, I finally determined it was the starter motor. I was able to install by removing the air filter box and going in from the top (didn't even have to remove the plastic). I can say that the starting brand is the same as the OEM I removed (Mitsuba) and at a much better price than elsewhere. After installing it on a 2016 Kodiak 700 (708) it starts like new again.
