Review on Wilson Electronics Lightning Surge Protector for 75 Ohm F-Female Connections by Brandon Garrett

Lightning is not your friend.

Easy to install, good anti-static protection against lightning strikes. This will eliminate the static charge or shock and save your amp. It will fully detonate on a direct hit and can save your system, but on a direct hit you roll and risk it. down to the surge protector and the ground wire (small connector at the top of the photo) that goes directly to ground. I drive in short rebar or attach it to a ground stake on a cable system. The trick is to mount the unit so that the bottom connector is on the side and the threaded parts are pointing straight up and down. The flash doesn't like to turn around, it wants to go straight to the ground. So if the coax cable going from the antenna to the surge protector has little to no bend, and little to no bend going directly to ground, the block will most likely take a serious hit with no problems. The lightning can ignore a 90 degree bend in the ground wire to bounce off and directly ground the wall, it's so picky. In this case, the ground wire goes to a very high potential to ground within a microsecond, which is long enough to nullify most of the surge protection. Install it vertically with the ground wire as straight as possible and you'll be fine. WeBoost amplifiers are very sensitive receivers and should be protected at all costs. Most satellite TV systems come with protections, but they are not as good as these. This one is of the highest quality and works much better than most on the market.
