Not weatherproof? in Accessories and Consumables

The Wilson Electronics guy advised me to protect the connectors AND the surge protector from the elements. It seems odd that a surge protector designed for external use isn't strong enough for outdoor use. So when you buy one, think about how you can protect this little guy.

  • Stylish and modern design

I think it's ok. If the fuse blows, then.

I think it's ok. If the fuse blows it will be very difficult to replace as it is on my roof but they said to put it next to the antenna before entering the building so there it is. I'll say it looks bulletproof. I think it's stainless steel and it's strong. The time will show.

Pros
  • Practical thing
Cons
  • Useless functions

Durable product for your antenna and security for homeowners.

Heavy Duty Product I understand this works with a built in and replaceable surge arrester. (According to my installer) My installer installed an 8 foot long copper ground rod and buried it in a shovel full of rock salt to create a good ground. He says they do that in the Marine Corps to guarantee a good position.

Pros
  • Everything is fine!
Cons
  • Available in white only.

Essential product with Wilson Boosters

I bought a Wilson Dual Band Pro for my dad. He lives in the country and hardly gets a signal, his living room is built into the hillside. Installed a booster and was finally able to get rid of the landline phone. The amp was working fine until a thunderstorm broke out and his phone wasn't connected through the amp. I swapped out the booster and bought this protector and so far so good. I find it pricey given the details, but it's a must-have for owners. The replacement gas cartridge is good but

THIS IS 75 ohm Model #859992: Make sure you get the correct resistor

This is the 859992 model, a 75 ohm surge arrester. We need that. But be careful! There are a number of listings that show the wrong picture making it easy to accidentally get the 859902 model which is a 50 ohm model! Installation is easy. As far as we know, it hasn't had a nearby lightning strike to perform its function. As with any insurance or protection, you hope you never need it, but you want it to be there and ready when you need it. This is a pretty easy and necessary part. Be sure to…

Missing parts in power strips and surge protectors

This device requires a short cable or an adapter to connect to the antenna. Wilson sent me one for free but I suggest the cable or gender changer come with a surge protector as I had to delay installing it. The guard must also be attached to 10 gauge copper wire. Bare 10G copper wire is not very available to homeowners at local stores as the only wire I could find was stranded 10G wire coated in green plastic. The protector has the option to replace the inside, but this does not relate to the…

Lightning is not your friend.

Easy to install, good anti-static protection against lightning strikes. This will eliminate the static charge or shock and save your amp. It will fully detonate on a direct hit and can save your system, but on a direct hit you roll and risk it. down to the surge protector and the ground wire (small connector at the top of the photo) that goes directly to ground. I drive in short rebar or attach it to a ground stake on a cable system. The trick is to mount the unit so that the bottom connector…

Don't install a Cellular Booster System without one of these.

If you are installing an antenna outside of your home or other building you will need a surge arrester and this product is exactly that. To be clear, they do not protect against a direct lightning strike, but they do protect against electromagnetic energy generated when a lightning strike occurs in close proximity (within a radius of several miles) to the antenna. A direct lightning strike will destroy the antenna and electronic devices with or without surge arresters. A lightning strike in the
