Revainrating 1 out of 5

Unreliable. 1 of 2 drives failed in less than 2 weeks and is not compatible with Dell laptops/all-in-ones.

With Samsung phasing out mSATA hard drive space, I decided to try two versions of Leven 512GB hard drives to increase the capacity of my Dell 6430u laptops. You must have a source for reliable mSATA drives other than Kingston. Neither worked properly in laptops. It managed to install the operating system, but the drive eventually disappeared and the laptop froze. Tried another OS, same result. Was not stable when installing on a Dell AIO desktop. No problem I thought, I'll just plug these drives into an mSATA to 2.5" SATA adapter so I can use them on other computers that use the 2.5" drive form factor. The adapter used works well with Samsung 860 EVO 1TB mSATA drives and Leven drives work well with acceptable throughput. But this morning I couldn't boot a Toshiba laptop that had one of these Leven drives installed. Some problems have been fixed, but not only does the Toshiba laptop report that the drive check failed, other computers do too, and they don't recognize Leven either. drive more THIS WILL BE DEAD so return it for a refund. Maybe it's just death in the cradle and hopefully the second Levene will have a longer lifespan, but time will tell.

Pros
  • Slim design
Cons
  • Weight
