Review on Saltwater Chlorine Generator For Spas And Hot Tubs Up To 2000 Gallons - ControlOMatic ChlorMaker by Megan Smith

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Awesome.make sure salt level is enough

I struggled with Bromine for 3 years with the spa. The PH and alkalinity were always low no matter how much chemical I added. It was so bad, the water corroded many parts of the new spa. Totally frustrated, I decided to switch to salt after ready the reviews. I drained and added new water to the 450 gal spa. Added 2 bags of the Nexa spa salt. The 3.3lb bags say one for each 250 gallons. Over the next two weeks, the chlorine would not get above 2.0ppm. I had the Chlormaker on 8 and hit boost every other day. I was getting frustrated again. Then had the water professionally tested at my local pool store. I added 1/3 bag more salt (glad I bought 3 bags) and some stabilizer. Wow, that did the trick all chemical levels are perfect and I hope they stay that way. I love this little gizmo and hope I get years out of it.UPDATE: beware that the salt will corrode your spa. my 3 year old spa is now rusting. the heater needs to be replaced as it's totally rusted and leaking. the salt levels were always kept within range. ChlorMaker company said the level of salt would not affect anything. WRONG.
