Review on SIMRAN THG-500 Step Down Transformer - Efficient 500W AC 220/230V Transformer by Michael Glassburn

Before purchasing, in an attempt to filter out any reviews, my interpretation was that it would do the job, although there was no quality control. Factory - at least when it comes to soldering, the integrity of the coil there is no way to check now. I had cold solder in mine, on the primary side. Although it is ready to use out of the box, I would advise you to test it before using it. I'm still in the US but am using it rustically after my 1500w step-up transformer just to test it out. I don't know how hot the coil gets at higher sustained loads, but I planned on using it for just small things and bought the THG2000 for the larger loads. With a lot of weight, this isn't great for air travel, but having a few different sizes to move around is the best goal for this design in my opinion.
