Review on Saint Mossi Modern Contemporary Elegant K9 Crystal Glass Chandelier Pendant Ceiling Lighting Fixture - 5 Lights by Robert Grimm

First, for the price, this is a beautiful product. My Home Depot had almost the exact same thing for about $20 more, and it was all acrylic/plastic - where this is a all glass. It is really lovely. I concur with other reviews that the instructions are woefully inadequate (examples: instructions say "1. Check to be sure that all parts are included." but there is no materials list to compare it to. Items B and D appear to be identical. There is a pair of white cotton gloves, but there is no indication when they should be used or why.) Still, I was able to assemble the chandelier - it took me about 2 hours. I was not planning to hard-wire to my ceiling but was planning on swagging the chain to the wall and plugging into an outlet. However, this product does not come with a plug. I purchased addition length of chain (neither Lowe's or Home Depot had any chain that matched), I purchased ceiling hooks, I purchased a lamp-making kit that included a cord with a plug, and I spliced the cord from the chandelier to the cord with a plug. I plugged it in to be sure it worked, then I hung the chandelier. I plugged it in, and there was a popping sound and it went out. I disassembled the entire thing and repackaged it for return. I found the blackened wire that shorted out - it was not the spliced cord but inside the chandelier. The instructions were very vague about how to wire it - clearly I did something wrong. Makes me sad to return it, but I can't risk setting my house on fire!
