Review on πŸ”Œ Maverick Wireless Thermometer With 2 Probes - Remote-Check Technology by Balakrishna Tam

Definitely serves a purpose

I have used this product several times and have mixed feelings. I like the convenience of knowing the temperature of the meat and my big green egg by looking out the window (when the transmitter isn't working, which it usually is). The transmitter doesn't work at all. When I first used this product I was unable to use the transmitter in a breakfast area that was less than 10 feet from a smoker. I changed the batteries last weekend and the transmitter updated immediately when the receiver and transmitter were together or about 12-15 feet apart every 10-15 minutes. This works well for light and slow smoking, but is not suitable for other cooking styles. The temperature was generally accurate. This weekend it recorded my turkey breast's core temp at 167. I tested it with another thermometer and it read 150. After I reinserted the probe, it showed a more accurate reading. It was uncomfortable but quickly resolved. All in all I wouldn't buy this product for a transmitter - it's unreliable. But smoking meat is definitely worth the money. Even without a transmitter, this product is cheaper than most single-probe thermometers. I would give 4 stars if the temp was more accurate or the transmitter worked better and 5 stars if both worked.
