I bought a Moen S5500 filtration system in late Spring 2016. This check refers to the first filter change. The Moen system and all my faucets were installed by a professional, so changing the filter was the first time I had to mess with it. Removing the filter wasn't easy; I found that I could pry it off by taking a flathead screwdriver and wedging it between the top of the filter and the bracket. I couldn't get a replacement after spending a ridiculous amount trying. I installed the filter that came with it with no problems. Since other reviewers have written about the same replacement issue, the "Made in China" filter must be a manufacturing defect. I called Moen and they sent a replacement. Also, the detachment will not continue to the end. Take out the replacement and put back the original filter that came with the system. After much frustration, I took the system out, disconnected the lines from the beverage and tap. Turn the thing upside down and push it in there firmly. I think the problem with this thing is that you can't find enough force to push the filter in when everything is connected to the mount. I had a Moen AquaSuite water filtration system in my last home that used a 9001 filter. It was easy to put on and take off while in the holder. Looks like a much better design than this one. I miss this already outdated system. I live in a family of one with pets and everyone gets filtered drinking water. The filter was only really good for about six months when I started seeing a lot of airborne particles in it. So I wouldn't expect to have more than six months of it.
