These are very good pedals, especially if you're using old toe clips and straps. like me. They are of a traditional design with loose ball bearings in the inner and outer ring, the balls are held by the pedal body and are adjusted/removed by unscrewing the two nuts at the end of the lead screw under lubrication. This can be a bit of a chore and, like many things with bikes, hard to get right. Luckily the pedals last quite a long time without being touched - typically a few thousand miles if you can just throw them out and buy new ones. It is a pity that nobody makes such tourist pedals, but with sealed bearings.
