Reliable pedals for most riding conditions.

I have these, I like them a lot. They appear to be stainless steel or something plated as they are quite shiny and somewhat waxy in texture. The bearings are pretty good but I've added a fresh drop of grease and expect them to break in as they could be smoother. The grip they provide is very firm and the little knobs don't go through the foot like some of the other pedals I have. They'll hurt a little if you fall in, but they won't stab you to death. Good workmanship, good grip. What else can I

Old-fashioned technology but beautiful traditional design

These are very good pedals, especially if you're using old toe clips and straps. like me. They are of a traditional design with loose ball bearings in the inner and outer ring, the balls are held by the pedal body and are adjusted/removed by unscrewing the two nuts at the end of the lead screw under lubrication. This can be a bit of a chore and, like many things with bikes, hard to get right. Luckily the pedals last quite a long time without being touched - typically a few thousand miles if you

Great price, solid, basic pedal

Bought six months ago. Very happy with the quality and price of the MKS pedals. My wife's otherwise pretty solid new bike came with plastic pedals that started to fail a few weeks after purchase. These pedals turned out to be a really good choice for us. Sturdy, well made, great price compared to other similar pedals. I opened them up when I received them and oiled them for peace of mind. If you plan on servicing, you may need an MKS wrench for the dust caps, or you could damage the softโ€ฆ

It's the pedals, bro

If pedals are the endless debate on the internet, the next thing you'll ALWAYS read is "MKS pedals don't spin right out of the box." TRUE. But I still laugh every time I read about how they spin. It ranks in one of the first places compared to the Bachsattel. That's the problem. If you use sealed pedals you will absolutely notice the difference. Others want you to believe they are not spinning at all. Hardly. I'm approaching this from the perspective of a longtime not-yet-confused bike mechanic

Old school parts and components

Oh my god, that's exactly what I wanted. Pedals that allow me to hop on and off my bike without having to put my feet in stirrups or clamps. They are the same as the pedals I had in the late 70's only lighter. In fact, they feel better on my feet. I'm returning to serious cycling after about 35 years and changing pedals on my ratcheted road bike is the best thing I've done to date. Then a saddle to replace the plastic POS I currently have. After reading other reviews saying they come with someโ€ฆ

Goes great with everyday shoes!

MKS Sylvan Touring Pedals are a great product. Much better quality than any similar looking pedals sold at any of my local bike shops. Their style is based on very similar touring pedals that were popular decades ago. Steel axle with solid aluminum body and divider plates. They are very well made and offer a nice wide platform for wide feet, casual or sports and skateboarding shoes, modern MTB style cycling shoes that you can also use but without the usual SPD spikes.
