surprisingly good nagura stone. but.

This is a surprisingly good Nagura Stone unless you believe the misinformation out there. In this review, I'm going to debunk some common myths so you don't have to learn the hard way. This stone works amazingly well with both high grit and 400 grit. The color is great as it contrasts well with almost any waterstone (grindstone), barely wide, long, comfortable to grip and not too prone to rattling through the stone is If your stone is too dry or has a very coarse 400 grit, you will need to move more slowly and apply a little more pressure. The pure water stone is like the difference between day and night. It's definitely a must have myth busting the time myth 1. Nagura will smooth your water stone FALSE It's soft as chalk. It removes loose sand and metal particles stuck in your stone (does not remove rust particles due to oxide propulsion) without dulling the still bonded abrasive. polishes your edge. I personally find mud ineffective and polishing stone (3k+ grit) much more effective. Something else to watch out for, you can't sharpen the steel on the hardwood itself, it's too soft to have any effect on the steel. You don't need to soak it or other coarse grains as they don't absorb water well and others may soften and crumble.
