laptop. This little marvel delivers a lot more volume and better sound quality than a laptop's built-in speaker. It's not loud enough to shake walls, but it produces moderately loud sound with surprisingly high fidelity. The speaker is solid, heavy and obviously well made. Listening to this speaker, I would pay $30 to buy it even though it's half the price. The soft rubber pads on the bottom are there to keep the speaker from sliding and probably also serve as pads to elevate the bottom a bit so the sound from the bottom speaker has 3 ways to come out. Tip: These 3 pads are covered with a very thin, unobtrusive foil that needs to be removed so that the pads stick better to the table surface.
