Review on 🐠 Yagote Aquarium Surface Skimmer and Protein Oil Skimmer Set with Flexible Tube for Fish Tank and Aquatic Plant by Lisa Turner

I put this on an Aqueon i10 Hang on Back Filter (HOB) for a 10 gallon reef tank (12 corals, 2 fish, 1 anemone). I bought this because I had bubbles that couldn't break the surface tension of the biofilm water. I tried moving my powerhead to suck in air to break up the surface, but then I had an evaporation problem. This solved those problems. I feel like I have a much better gas exchange and the aquarium looks healthier overall and the biofilm is completely gone. I had to cut off part of my filter rod inlet to secure the tube but it only took a minute with a box opener. I go through the poly filter a lot faster, so I suspect I'm gaining more waistline. It's half the price of the branded one and I doubt people make it with tougher plastic. The disadvantage is that the overall filter performance is slightly reduced. What should you consider when using the hob to move all the water? Medium sized algae will get stuck at the bottom of the water inlet and will need to be pryed out with tweezers (can be a bonus if you don't want large chunks of algae being sucked into the filter and clogging the surrounding area). Also, the tube is very stiff and may require repositioning before it stays the way you want it. This item isn't small, but it's a big purchase. I like it.
