🐠 Yagote Aquarium Surface Skimmer and Protein Oil Skimmer Set with Flexible Tube for Fish Tank and Aquatic Plant Review

This thing is amazing! I made one myself and it failed miserably. If I had known I could buy this for less than $12 I would have done it in a jiffy. My little film on my 36 gallon nose was removed in less than 15 minutes and the top of my waterline is now crystal clear. I hooked it up to Jane's clear or liquid HOB which I've been using for over a year and it has made the suction and water absorption even stronger. Super happy.

The tube was too small for the Fluval FX series, but I drilled a hole in the Fluval inlet tube, cut the rigid L-shaped tube so that it was a straight tube with a bent end , and attached it to the Fluval tube with the angled end up into the Fluval tube, attached a Sugru to it and adjusted the water inlet to slide over the surface and direct the water into the Fluval inlet so the Fluval the water filters. This is very close to another skimmer brand at over twice the price. There are no instructions for this model, and the packaging is written almost entirely in the oriental style. A bit of ingenuity is required during installation. It does not provide instructions on how to properly set up a flow control system. Luckily, an internet search turned up the information I needed. Those issues aside, once properly installed and set up, this skimmer works like a charm.

I have found nothing but success! It prevents the accumulation of surface oils from food and other proteins while reducing the flow rate for my betta! Now he is much happier. Finding a balance between the bottom and top entrance for optimal suction is a little tricky, but once you do, you're spot on. I would recommend attaching it directly to the rear intake manifold. I just got this a few days ago and it's working fine so far. I have a Fluval Spec tank which is smaller so it may have been too difficult to wire it up. But thanks to all the little things that came with it, I finally figured it out. I think the directions weren't very good, but there are so many parts to play around with, so I kept going like this until it started spinning. I put this on an Aqueon i10 Hang on Back Filter (HOB) for a 10 gallon reef tank (12 corals, 2 fish, 1 anemone). I bought this because I had bubbles that couldn't break the surface tension of the biofilm water.
