Review on ✨ Silver Polish Kit for Shining Twinkles by Lawrence George

Revainrating 5 out of 5

A gentle, minimally abrasive silver polish that works well and leaves a protective layer that slows the formation of tarnish.

This is an overview of the Twinkle Silver Polishing Kit. I remember the twinkle silver finish from my childhood. My mom used it to clean her sterling silver flatware, bowls and other items she had. Twinkle has been around for a long time. I keep using it because it's one of the least abrasive cleaning products out there. It is best to use the least abrasive cleaning methods when cleaning sterling silver and silver saucers. With silver plate in particular, the actual silver layer is so thin that abrasive cleaners can actually remove the silver, leaving the underlying metal translucent. Poorly. The "set" you receive is nothing more than a container of Twinkle and a round sponge applicator. You moisten the pad with water, dip it into the soft Twinkle paste and rub it onto your silver jewellery. Almost immediately the block turns black with plaque. Therefore you want to fold the pad to get a clean area and proceed to clean the silver. You will need to rinse the pad frequently with clean water, reapply a small amount of Twinkle, and continue cleaning the silver until all traces of tarnish are gone. You will notice that the tarnished silver will initially have a yellowish tint but will whiten over time as the tarnish is removed. You will end up with a shiny piece of silver, the way you want it to look. The shimmer leaves a protective layer on the silver that slows further tarnishing. Areas of high humidity accelerate the formation of tarnish, so this is very helpful in these conditions. An even less abrasive silver cleaner that I use is Blitz Silver Polish, Blitz 20633 2-Pack Silver Shine Liquid Polish. Shimmer, I also use cotton balls and/or cotton pads or oval pads and cotton swabs. They are inexpensive and abrasion resistant. It's easier to get into areas of detail than just using a foam pad.
