Although I've changed ratchets on older bikes, I've never changed modern cassettes. A rear wheel on a 15 year old Fuji aluminum wheel needed replacing when the spokes broke and the old cassette could not be removed, possibly due to invisible internal corrosion. This bike was bottomed during both Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans and Hurricane Sandy in New Jersey. Assembly was easy. Fine-tuning of the transfer is required as the old cartridge was not identical. The bike runs well when fully engaged and most shifts are smooth from the first use.
