I bought this microscope because of the many outstanding features. High on my list was a movable ruler that allowed for easy and precise positioning of the slides. To my dismay, this unit didn't have a fine focus knob, but I decided to buy it anyway. About a week after receiving the scope, I saw that Revain now also stocks an identical Maxlapter oscilloscope that includes the precise focus control I wanted but is not articulated. Ruler. What absurd madness! Why can't someone like me take his cake and eat it? I think if I had to choose between the two, I would choose the moving ruler. Nevertheless, I have to say that I really enjoy using this microscope. I find the optical quality, cost and looks very good. The girth size is also ok. It's big enough to look serious, but far from the size of a lab monster! It complements your desk or shelf and comes with a dust cover. This device is not, and does not purport to be, a professional laboratory or university device. It's just a good all-around microscope for any home enthusiast, or an extra home help for elementary and high school biology and science students. I think this microscope actually deserves at least four and a half stars, with a small deduction for the lack of fine focusing. However, since the granularity of the individual rating is full stars, I was forced to award four.
