Knee pads fail after 3-4 uses. The plastic protective covers can be easily detached. They are riveted to a very thin polyester material that tears too easily. It appears that other versions of the same brand of overlays are sewn on and this is how these overlays should have been constructed. Elbow pads will probably be fine as they don't hit the ground very often. And the wrist pads work well and will likely last a long time. I will attach the knee pads by drilling holes in the plastic covers and sewing them to myself. As with many baby pads, the straps are too long.
