Part of one of the mounting sections had broken off and the back cover was so dented it stopped the rotation of the plastic part completely. Being in central Alaska it takes weeks to return this and swap out another pump so I removed the back cover (not recommended as it protects the plastic part) and let it run. On the plus side (and why I gave it 3 stars) is that it rocked steadily and the fuel oil transfer moved about 100 feet between my two tanks. Due to the distance it pumped at about 1.7 gallons per minute so my 1000 gallons took quite a while to pump but it ran for about 10 hours with no problems.
