Review on ๐Ÿ”Œ Winegard RV-7042 White Wall Plate Power Supply: Reliable RV Power Solution by Jeff Ross

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Ideal for fit and function and easy installation.

I bought this to replace an antenna booster switch in my 2013 Roadtrek motorhome. My only interest was to have a 12 volt outlet that would draw power from household batteries and not a starter battery. I removed the old amp board and simply connected the existing 12 volt wire clamp from the replaced amp to this new 12 volt outlet. I even went a little further as there was a separate A/B switch to switch between roof antenna, cable entry and another small box that acted as a splitter. This one unit not only replaced 3 units, but also allowed me more AV closet space (space is always at a premium in small RVs) and a tidier installation. I didn't have to buy anything extra except one of those double ended wire connectors that let me just use the existing wire behind the RV wall and all I had to do was fish it out maybe 6 or 8 inches with a piece of wire. Hanger. In general, it took me more time to write this review than to install the device. Now I have a 12 volt household battery outlet for my CPAP machine and don't have to run the inverter all night. I couldn't understand why Roadtrek didn't use this setup from the start because it's probably cheaper and takes less time to install. more difficult than the original three-unit setup, which does exactly the same job but eliminates the very useful 12-volt outlet of a household battery. After the test everything worked perfectly. It's almost impossible to mess up this setup, but no doubt some will manage to do the impossible, and they're the ones who will give this device a one-star rating.
