These reptile mats are awesome. They help my ball python by giving her something that isn't too hard on her scales, but is still rough and textured enough for her to rub against when she's in the scales. They are much easier to clean than other types of bedding/substrate and are much less likely to meet the environmental needs of unwanted pests such as mites. I had no problem with the green fibers peeling too much and when they arrived they just smelled faintly of new product which aired out quickly.
