Review on Celestron Digital Microscope Imager 44422 by Danny Crowder

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Gives excellent results for the price

I am using this with an OMAX 40-2000 stereo microscope. The camera looks through one eyepiece and through the other at the center. I've seen some comments about update speed. No problems with my Win 7 computer. The software required the latest version to work in 64 bit but was sourced from Celestron. I can take a video or photo. Grain was not a problem. I chose the setting to double the number of pixels. No problem. The color is very good and the resolution is excellent, no problems with steps. Yes. FOV is smaller than a normal eyepiece. Approximately the same magnification as a 15mm eyepiece with a narrower field of view due to the small chip. To get more you need a much larger chip (very expensive). I found a great way to get around this. Download a free program called AUTOSTITCH. This is a program that lets you stitch together large mosaics without worrying about alignment and shooting order. Just move the sample around and take multiple frames. Now select them all in AUTOSTITCH and the program will automatically place them in the right place, blending and even smoothing the gradients. I just did a recording that took 40 frames to cover the entire sample and it was amazing. Final adjustment of color, sharpness and curves can be done in any photo paint program, although I use Photo Shop. The only negative issue is that when the software is activated, when you press the shutter button, it takes a few seconds to take a picture. But it's not a big problem for me. After spending a lot of time with this camera I decided to update my review. gave another star. it is so good. I sent some photos I took of him to Celestron. They were impressed and will be using my photos in ads! You can't go wrong with this camera.
