I don't get to use the Thorn Finder very often. But the other day I went to my tool box and pulled out my very old but trusty spike finder. Didn't work even with a new battery. So back to the toolbox and find a new unit. It turned on, but when they put it on the outside wall, everything looked like a hairpin. It's time to buy a new stud finder. My criteria: inexpensive, fastest possible delivery and newer technology. This device met all my needs. I opened the shipping box and everything was there to start searching for manufacturers. I put it against the wall and it didn't give me the most accurate readings, but that changed when I turned on deeper penetration mode. This gave me exactly the results I was looking for. So I am very happy with the results. There are probably other spike finders out there, and probably just as good, but this one worked for me with good results and at a very reasonable price.
