Review on Upgraded Refrigerator Thermometer Wireless Temperature by Karen Avance

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Sophisticated but effective monitor.

After dealing with the failure of the refrigerator and not saving the frozen food in time, I decided to invest in a temperature monitor once it works again. I really liked that this unit had two separate temperature sensors - this way I could keep an eye on both the freezer and the fridge which gets cold from time to time and freezes perishables. First I received the device and after inserting the batteries it started working in a few minutes. I put one probe in the fridge and the other in the freezer - they have strong enough spring-loaded hooks, so I fixed them in the doors. It took the probes about an hour to accurately determine the internal temperature. Then I read the guide on how to set up temperature alerts and that's when it got confusing. Regardless of what temperature I set for the min and max temps, the display resets to what I thought was a random number, not the number I entered. Same problem as it seemed. Then I delved deeper into the situation and noticed that the minimum and maximum readings changed as the recorded temperature changed. When I took out the probe and left it on the counter, the max reading moved up as the temperature increased until it reached the high temperature warning I had previously set and the unit started squeaking! Stay here with me - I figured I wouldn't see the number I programmed until it got to this temperature. Instead, the display will show all temperatures reached - high and low - up to the level you set for the alert. The instructions are very primitive and don't say anything about it so it was trial and error. sorted out and I feel more confident controlling the temperature of my fridge. I've been using this for almost a month with my first set of batteries and have had no battery issues when using fresh alkaline batteries.

Pros
  • Not only usable for its intended purpose
Cons
  • Not everything fits
