I bought this to replace my slick wall router running on an old 2.4GHz Pentium computer. I have Netgear WND350 hotspots at home, so while I don't need the Wi-Fi aspect, I figured it couldn't hurt. Pros First: Network Genie for people who don't know anything about routers. The advanced configurations are great because it's the first router I've seen in the time that allows port forwarding to redirect to another port I need and smoothwall offers. Cons: It doesn't work out of the box. It connects to the internet and works fine "IF" I give all my devices a static IP address. The problem is that in the first 5-10 minutes when it's on it assigns a DHCP address, my phones etc will connect. After that short period of time, however, this is useless and only allows devices that are already connected, have an IP address, or those that are static to connect. No new addresses are assigned, so no Wi-Fi connection or wired Ethernet connection will work. It worked for the first 2 hours and after that I found this error. So I just disabled DHCP on the stupid router and installed DHCP de on my Win7 security camera and dashcam and now my home network is humming happily. So I'm really just using this as a direct router and will then also forward all my external ports to the cameras within the network. It's a shame that this bug exists and it would be nice if they could fix it with a firmware update. I can only give it one star due to the DHCP issue and the fact that the average user who isn't a network engineer (which I happen to be) who understands DHCP and static, firewalls, static and dynamic routing, etc. NEVER could Got it. Work. I will not be returning it as I really doubt there are any hardware issues. So far it's pretty reliable, except for the issue of the DHCP server failing after a few minutes.
