Review on Sharpening Stone 2 Sided Whetstone Bamboo by Drew Gengler

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Very Good Sharpening Stone

Very good whetstone. It's a bit smaller than my expensive Japanese water stones, but a lot cheaper. I bought this because my 3000 grit stone broke in half in the wash - no pressure or stress. The wooden crate holder stays on the counter and the included guide works well but I don't need it. I asked about the little white pad that comes with the kit and got a ridiculous reply; what is this for repairing holes in stone. In addition, these two grits are excellent for sharpening decent knives. I would use a coarser stone - say 600 - to fix a really dull knife and after using that stone I still polish the knives with a sling rubbed with polishing compound. In general, I got a good result.

Pros
  • This set comes with a silicone pad to hold the stone in a non-slip bamboo stand which ensures the stone stays in place while sharpening. The knife sharpening angle guide allows you to maintain the correct angle and safely apply constant pressure while sharpening the blade.
Cons
  • Doubtful purchase for the elderly
