later Revision of my original 4 star review. I wondered why the laser beam wasn't working. When I removed the battery cover, I noticed that whoever put the batteries in originally put them in the wrong way round. When you look at them, the flat side should be to the right of the feather and the round side should be facing the feather. Left. All batteries point in the same direction. After I put the batteries in correctly, the laser beam worked perfectly. The white color in the picture is a reflection. The lines are red. Be careful when pulling back the tape measure. He moves fast! Keep your hands off him. If it weren't for this issue and the batteries installed incorrectly from the factory, I would have changed this to 5 stars.
