Review on SHIMANO Di2 Inline Wireless Unit by Jon Lewis

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Beware of the first firmware update!

Warning. I bought it. Very easy to install. Connected to my Android and kicked out. And when I say I crashed, it froze all the layers on the bike, not just the wifi. I had to borrow a friends computer (because I only have a Mac), download software to reset everything. Try connecting to my Android again. The whole process over and over again. I. You cannot update the firmware on a wireless device from a PC like you can with Di2. Eventually (after reading other similar issues online) I downloaded the app to my iPad and the issue was resolved. Firmware updated well. It sucks because I don't want to carry my iPad around and don't want to reset everything, including unplugging all the cables from the bike so I can make adjustments on the fly. The whole purpose is to be able to change there, to adapt to what pleases me. It's also strange that the app has issues with Android but not Apple. And what is even stranger is that the computer program only works on a PC and not on a Mac. This gives you the customization you need, not without frustration.

Pros
  • Sport
Cons
  • Can be retrofitted
