I don't use them to dry my hair; they actually do the opposite for me. When I get out of the shower, I wrap my hair in a hair towel for a few minutes and then apply hair oils and leave-in conditioner. After that I divide my hair into 2 sections and twist it with these elastics to hold it in place. I look a bit like Princess Leia with two swirly buns on the sides of my head. They don't really help dry my hair but keep it from getting tangled when air drying. But since my hair is curled and wrapped in a hair tie, it actually stays damp a little longer than if I air dried it. When I let my hair down, it's wavy and doesn't frizz. Sometimes it's still a bit damp, but I wash my hair in the evening and just go to bed with something damp (silk pillowcase), that also helps against frizz. (I always struggle with frizz.) I have very thick, wavy, long hair and it's big, soft, and perfect for my needs.
