I received this item because the photos led me to believe that the I2C interface board was not soldered, giving me the flexibility to use the parallel interface or serial I2C. One photo even shows an Arduino configured to drive a display without an I2C board, complete with an external contrast potentiometer. It wasn't like that; The I2C board is soldered and it took a long time to desolder it. The contrast potentiometer on the I2C board was all the way down so at first I thought something was wrong, but the text cleared up when I cropped it a bit.
