Can't handle 800W

These smart plugs say they can handle up to 1100W, but they don't. I tried an outlet on each of my two window air conditioners. These air conditioners consume about 400 watts in normal operation. The "impulse" when the air conditioning is switched on for the first time can be doubled, but is still only 800 watts. Both plugs held up to the initial surge, but cycling the air conditioner on and off multiple times destroyed both plugs. dead as nails, with no way to connect to a hub, route power, or even light up their LEDs. On the plus side, they paired with my SmartThings hub fairly easily (although I had to first plug it closer to the hub and then move it to its final location), resulting in Alexa recognizing them. They were very responsive to commands. I suspect they would go with a table lamp, for example. But I wouldn't recommend them for higher wattage devices like coffee makers, fans, heaters, or air conditioners. The specs say they're good for 10A and 1100W, but in my experience you probably don't want to go above 5A / 500W.
