Light and motion states that the Urban 1000 glows at full brightness for 90 minutes. This is true when cycling in 60 degrees Fahrenheit. But if you're driving at 40F or below, you're wasting time. I only get 70-75 minutes of light when driving below 40F. This is something they don't mention on their website. I spoke to Light and Motion and they confirmed that cold weather will REALLY decrease battery life. If you need more time, consider the Cateye Volt 1700 which is advertised as having a 2 hour run time. This can be done better. Thing is, I rode the 36F today. I have 2.5 hours of full light. Then I got another hour of light, albeit less intense; At this point, the light isn't strong enough to drive in the dark, but bright enough for motorists to see. (I can't imagine there being too many people who drive more than 2-2.5 hours at night.) The Cateye is also noticeably brighter (not outrageously brighter, but noticeably brighter than the Urban 1000 - which I have confirmed ). Cateye is also more expensive. Of course you have to pay for it. Depending on where you get the Cateye, it's 2-3 times more expensive than the Urban 1000.
