I received the instant read digital meat thermometer today and am very satisfied. Item arrived in perfect condition and was better than described. The first thing I noticed after inserting a AA battery (not included) was an instant readout of the ambient temperature in the room. This led me to believe that an instant-read digital meat thermometer would not only be a must-have kitchen accessory, but also a useful addition to my DIY toolbox. To test this idea I used a thermometer to make sure my HVAC cold airflow was within specification, see attached image. Then while I was preparing dinner I used the item to show that my chicken was cooked to a safe temperature.
