Review on πŸ‡ Optimized Small Animal Cage Habitat with Accessories by Amazon Basics by Nick Worley

Revainrating 5 out of 5

happy pigs best in Houses & Habitats

Our guinea pigs are about 5 years old and used to live in midwestern cages. Ideally this (JUMBO) cage is big enough for 2 guinea pigs, but with a balcony 3 pigs can also be comfortable. i love hard butt. All pig manure, hay and ground beef stay in the cage until I muck it out. It's also possible to lift and move the entire cage if they need to visit grandma while you're on vacation! In the Midwestern Habitat, the lower and more flexible sides allowed more material to fly out and make it harder to clean, plus the material absorbed moisture and stains and got dirty and smelly no matter how many times I washed it. I see no problem with the Amazons hard floor cage. But Midwest cages can be linked if you have more than 2 pigs and I don't think Revain cages can be linked. They need to take cover, which means they have more room to run and play when they want to be active. They're not used to such a high ramp, but they can climb onto the balcony, and the more they get used to it, the more they hang out there. I actually use a hay rack and it's the first and only one I've ever found useful! Thorough cleaning/wiping once a week is a must – the wire parts just have to get up and go. Unplugging the cables isn't too bad, it just takes a few extra minutes to unplug and plug back in, but it's definitely a minus. Too bad the side opening isn't bigger and that the side opening is only on one side because if it were bigger on both sides it would solve the problem of having to disassemble the cage every time you deep clean. I change newspapers/clean every day and can get there with cables. We've had pigs for many years now and while I've had this cage for less than a week and both are good, I think it's worth a few bucks more compared to midwestern habitat. I will update with any changes but this appears to be a well made, sturdy cage and so far I would highly recommend it!
