I've had Dropcam Pro (before Nest bought Dropcam) for a very long time and it works very reliably :one ) . Location-based notification: The camera ONLY sends notifications when I'm not at home. This is done via an iPhone app that checks my phone's location. 2). Custom zones: I only want to be alerted for a specific "zone" of the camera view. This. only the area near my front door and balcony and ignore the rest of the house. It never failed. The Nest Cam went on sale during the 2016 holiday season, so I bought it. Bad move! The camera has many problems that NONE of the above work properly: 1). I even got a notification at home.2). When I received a notification and opened it from the iPhone app, the video froze. Only a circle goes in a circle.3). Now I get notifications for NOTHING in the camera view. The camera just ignored my "Zones" setting above. No changes to iPhone app settings and my network so it's definitely a camera. Nest support is also stumped and unable to help.
