$60 won't beat f/1.8. It's fully manual control, but if you're shooting a subject at a fixed distance it shouldn't be a problem. Attached is a sample video I shot right out of the box at 1.8 with no artificial light, just natural light from windows. Build quality seemed solid, but it was a lot heavier than the Canon kit lens my M50 came with. I will note that initially I had minor issues with the lens fitting correctly on the camera. I had to be careful and slow to make sure everything lined up, it wasn't as smooth as a regular Canon lens, which is what you'd expect from a $60 lens. When taking pictures I could not detect any glare. I will mainly be using this for videos and vlogs for my podcast. But so far I'm very impressed, I've used a Nikon before and used a great 50's 1.8G and honestly can't tell you any difference other than the lack of auto focus.
