I buy M. Graham & Co. oil paints. for my 88 year old mother who has painted most of her life; received a Fulbright scholarship based on her grades and ability when she was younger; received a degree in Commercial Art from the University of Marylhurst; worked as a commercial artist and designed chandeliers and sconces for churches and cathedrals; taught oil painting, fine arts and calligraphy; and her work has been exhibited in many galleries. I bought her the first set to try out as she was unhappy with the declining quality of Grumbacher's professional oil paints, so I did a little research and noticed that not only were M. Graham paints highly valued by professional artists, but the fact was Liked that M Graham & Co. was founded 25 years ago by two artists with a passion for oil painting who were graduating in fine arts in the 1970s when artists were beginning to express concerns about the health effects of toxins. in their art materials. They set out to start an art supply business that would serve artists by providing them with safe, high-quality, solvent-free oil paints worthy of artisans. M. Graham is a pioneer in reviving the traditional art of hand making small batch paints from historic natural bases of walnut oil and honey. This is what really drew me to their products as the fumes from my mother's paintings always bothered me and gave me a headache. But the best part about this story is that now, after trying it, my mom loves it so much more than the Grumbacher oil paints she's used for decades; I no longer get headaches from her drawings; she draws more and feels much happier; and I'm glad she is happy and using a product that is more environmentally friendly and healthier than flaxseed products, solvents and cleaning products. I will be buying many more M. Graham products for my mum so the only downside is my wallet which is actually a good thing as her work brings joy to her and others.
