Review on πŸ”’ Master Lock Stainless Steel Barbell Receiver Lock - 5/8 in. Fit (1469DAT) by James Fisher

Then I went and bought some triple spray lube and sprayed it on which made it very easy to turn the key on but still wouldn't start.

This product is terrible, firstly it was difficult to attach to my car when using the trailer hitch. Second, I bought this product in late March 2018 and when I went to remove it and change the ball on my truck, the lock was covered in corrosion. I blew the lock out with compressed air and then tried to push the key in but it was very, very difficult to get the key all the way in and when I finally put it in it would not turn. Then I went and bought some triple spray lube and sprayed it on which made it very easy to turn the key on but it still wouldn't turn. I then called the locksmith and spoke to them about my problem and they said and I quote "We are a security company so we can't tell you how to remove one of our keyless locks" so I thanked them and then started to drill the lock . Of course it didn't work as it's a master lock so I grabbed it with a saber saw and within 20 seconds the lock was on the ground. It is my opinion and my opinion only that this product is not worth the money and after reading other reviews online many others have had the same issue! If you decide to get one, seriously consider buying lube to spray in the lock monthly or quarterly (keep a maintenance log, you know) to keep moisture out. BTW, there's a moisture-proof cap on the lock to prevent corrosion (just to say the least). Hope this helps someone!

Cons
  • Not as thick as other options
