The device itself is very easy to use with the app. The hardest part is setting it up. Nowhere in the instructions is it explained how to turn on this controller with your stupid garage door openers. It's actually pretty easy once you understand how these opener devices work. Remember that this is a WIRED network device and can communicate with the garage door opener using the same wireless signal that comes from one of those wireless digital panels or small 3 button garage door openers that you can connect. on your visor. It's not WiFi, it's a different frequency range. It can also connect to more than one device through a gateway. I have two garage doors in my house and I can control both with one device. This is how I got it.1. I connected it to my router with the cables that came with it. It's easy and you should see the lights on both the router and the device come on when it's connected - be sure to take a picture of the back of the gateway as you'll need the serial number # later2. I am setting up my LiftMaster account online (myliftmaster.com) - the mobile app is not suitable for creating new accounts using a computer3. I downloaded the app (iOS and Android work pretty much the same) and logged into the app with my newly created myliftmaster.com4 account. Create a place in the app and name it "Home" - this step requires a serial number on the back of the device5. Now it's time to add your garage door to the app. You'll probably need a small ladder to get to your garage door opener's learn button. You should be ready to push them very soon, so brace yourself6. Click Manage Places > Add New Device to App7. You will be asked if this is a Wi-Fi device - say NO (this is not a Wi-Fi device)8. Now quickly tap 'learn' on your garage door opener (less than 3 minutes after adding a new device to the app) and LiftMaster's internet gateway will recognize and connect to the garage door in learn mode - select and hand to it a name9. If you have multiple door openers that you want to program, repeat steps 6 through 8 to open the next door. Instructions are on page 2 of this file: [.] But this is very poorly written and needs screenshots and more detailed instructions. Helping people set this thing up. I'm very familiar with network devices and using apps on smart devices, but it wasn't very intuitive and could have been a lot easier to set up with more detailed instructions.
