In my spare time I've been working on updating an old standard desktop computer. Specifically, the Dell Inspiron 531 that was released in the mid-2000s (2005-2008). As part of the updates I'm trying to move it from a 32-bit to a 64-bit OS. Of course I had to upgrade the RAM for this, but after reading some of the old discussion forums I heard a rumor that if you update the BIOS for the standard Asus M2N61-AX motherboard, it can recognize 8GB of RAM. But I didn't want to believe the rumours, so I bought a stick of 2GB of DDR2 RAM to test what I read about, as I already had 3GB of RAM on this desktop, along with 64-bit installed on the computer -Operating system. SSD as boot drive. After installing a new flash drive and booting up, if the Inspiron 531 recognized the flash drive and the total available RAM was 5GB, that would prove what I read was correct. It was. If the rest of my planned upgrades work, I'll consider buying three more sticks to increase the RAM to 8GB. Whether or not I buy more of this type or RAM, I'm glad I did and I'm grateful to Crucial as well. In terms of SSDs and RAM, they can compete with other reliable vendors like Sandisk, ADATA, Intel and Samsung; but they can come out on top in terms of accessibility. The last one suited me well.
