For several years I had a small (4 ounce) ball roll in a plastic case. It's seen better days, so I figured it was time to invest in a bigger winder (and it was my birthday, so it was *technically* a gift). It certainly arrived quickly via Prime and I was very positively surprised at how heavy it is! The roller is large - it should hold 10 oz. Most of the skeins I wrap are 100g sock yarn, so that should work just fine. I tested this with 6 skeins of sports yarn, about 200 yards each. The grip took a little getting used to compared to my old roller, but it was just better.
